The one thing you cannot forget: ID
Every guest needs an original passport or Emirates ID. The crew has to register all passengers before the yacht is allowed to leave, and photos or copies are not always accepted. If one guest forgets their ID, they may not be able to board, so check this before you leave home.
What to wear
Clothes
Think smart-casual and breathable. Light cotton or linen shirts, sundresses, shorts and cover-ups work well. Bring swimwear if you plan to swim, and wear it under your clothes or change on board. For evening trips, the breeze on the water can feel cool in winter, so pack a light layer.
The UAE has modest dress expectations in public places. On a private yacht you have more freedom, but keep a cover-up handy for walking through the marina.
Shoes
Most yachts ask guests to go barefoot or wear soft, non-marking soles on deck, to protect the surface and to avoid slipping. Leave heels at home. Flip-flops or sandals you can slip off easily are ideal.
Sun protection
The sun on the water is stronger than on land because it reflects off the sea. Wear sunglasses and a hat that will not blow away, and use reef-friendly sunscreen, reapplying after swimming.
